Warren Ellis (sometimes NSFW) is an evil man. The good kind of evil, usually. He is also a writer I'm quite fond of. Anyhow, I've been on his mailing list for a while, which he uses to amaze, horrify and abuse his fans. I thought his latest missive was pretty cool (cool being a relative term, I guess):

I *knew* this, because I was told all about it when it

happened, but I only *noticed* that I knew it today,

if you see what I mean...

...boingboing.net now has a "band manager," who's

incorporated the blog into an LLC and is selling the

adspace and the sponsorship for them.

I so love the idea that Mark & David & Cory & Xeni

are now a band who need a manager to handle the

cash for them.

I mean, it was a necessity, bandwidth costs were

killing them, and I was one of many people consulted

about how they could cover their costs. Personally,

I still kind of wish they'd thrown boingboing parties

every few months. But something had to be done.

A "band manager" for a bunch of bloggers. That,

in its own funny little way, is a sign of the future.

I also hope for boingboing parties. I've been a fan ever since randomly picking up The Happy Mutant Handbook in my university bookstore, circa first year. They are a wild and crazy bunch, as they say.
