The Japanese have developped an implantable battery that is powered by your own blood. It doesn't generate all that much electricity, but consider how quickly electronics have inproved in the last few years, and extrapolate forward. The potential for this (pardon the pun) is phenomenal. Controlling blood-sugar levels, weight loss, more power for my feeble brain, being able to shock people at will... delicious!

PS - Saw Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy again tonight. Managed to see it from the very beginning this time. My esteem for that movie has blossomed. I was smitten, this time around.
