Note to self:
Compare and contrast the PEAR random number generator experiments with Terrence McKenna's timewave.

Pretty pictures: microscopic images. False-colour SEM (scanning electron microscope) pictures mostly, which are always entertaining. Do a Google image search for SEM and bug, insect, plant, pollen, whatever if you don't believe me. Viewing the universe from a completely different scale is always mind-blowing for me; completely unfamiliar images that still make perfect sense.

Machinima; by request, here's some machinima links. Machinima is/are movies made using game-engines. It's apparently a thriving field and I expect it will only grow as game engines and scripting interfaces improve. Love how those wacky kids mess with technology.

Actual headline:
"Russian cargo ship docks at the international space station, delivers sorely needed supplies"

Headline provided by Fark.com:
"Russians foil NASA's plans to create space cannibals"

OK, I'm running on 3 hours' sleep here, so cut me some slack, but that made me laugh till I cried.

Ever since I saw Condorman, I've wanted a suit with wings that would let me fly. Well, who hasn't I guess. These guys seem to be closest to the dream:

"If Jeb lands the wing-suit without a parachute and survives—he is going to be my hero"

Indeed.

Art: Cartoons on business cards, advice on Creativity. Must remember to read this guy's site more often.

From his new book, which is currently freely downloadable from his site:
"Chaos can be a positive thing. Chaos is inherently part of the creative act. To embrace creativity means you must also embrace chaos. Things don't happen when everything is neat and "just so". Creativity is all about distruption. The people who tell you that creativity is pain-free are liars. The people who tell you they've got a plan are liars. There is no plan. There's just you, God and the need to invent. And this uncertain world is what most of us now find ourselves entering, willingly or otherwise."

Pictures: great shots from the Arkansas State Prison 1915-1937. I love old pictures like this, most of them look like aliens wearing not-quite-right human suits.

Not necessarily safe for work. Occasionally not safe for humanity. Usually fascinating.
