So Many Shirts, So Little Cash
Threadless has many shirts, created by random people who submit designs. I wish they had this kind of stuff available in stores, instead of the faux-vintage stuff that passes for cool these days. For all my geekiness, I still hesitate to order stuff online, which is of course silly.
Here's the link for the shirt with the above image. Made me think of my table-tossing friend, Seth. I miss that crazy bastard.

Chinese Bell
We found this sucker in at the end of an authentic "Chinese alley" (I swear, it was labelled as such). The alley didn't seem all that different from the Western variety, but I'm not an expert. The bell is very pretty, I only wish I could have heard what it sounded like; it produces two different tones, a semitone apart, so it's harmonic. It's a replica of a find at an archeological dig in China.

World Wind, via Bittorrent
Cool app, this sums it up:
World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there.
I've yet to download it, but I have seen it in action Stonker's absolutely massive monitor. It was very, very cool. And now it's available for download via Bittorrent, which is a great way to get large files. Here is the recommended system specs from the WW site, so you don't download it in vain:
- 700 MHz or higher CPU
- 128 MB RAM
- 1 GB disk space (World Wind's cache size is 2 GB by default; you must reduce the size of your cache - Someone put a link here or instructions)
.
Progressive Boink
I have a suspicion that Progressive Boink is going to be taking up a lot of my time in the near future. Observe:
Top 20 Sesame Street Memories, in which I get all teary-eyed rummaging through my childhood memories. (Sesame Street and Battle of the Planets are permanently etched into my brain)
which led me to
Top 20 Movie Kisses, in which I laugh my ass off. Not only is Emily hilarious, she has the absolute best AIM name evar: Roxymoron.
via Boingboing of course

The Filthy Monkey, It Blogs
Warren Ellis (sometimes NSFW) is an evil man. The good kind of evil, usually. He is also a writer I'm quite fond of. Anyhow, I've been on his mailing list for a while, which he uses to amaze, horrify and abuse his fans. I thought his latest missive was pretty cool (cool being a relative term, I guess):
====
I also hope for boingboing parties. I've been a fan ever since randomly picking up The Happy Mutant Handbook in my university bookstore, circa first year. They are a wild and crazy bunch, as they say.

Shoes on a Line
This is a two-for-one post! Think of the savings! Here is another riveting picture from Vancouver, and it also serves to illustrate the question: What's the deal with shoes on power lines? Does it mark a place to buy delicious crack? Or does it indicate a place haunted by terrifying, shoeless ghosts? Apparently many people are interested in this phenomenon, including my good friend Margie. Here are the answers: BEHOLD! The Straight Dope is awesome. Here's the short version: It means many things to many people. Humans are weird.

Turbulence
Throwing caution to the wind, I'm posting a pic of a painting I did recently. As I mention in the description on Flickr, the idea for this just appeared in my head one day. I wanted to make a painting that was simple and incorporated the kinds of doodles I like to do when I'm just messing around. There's probably a better way to photograph paintings, but this turned out well enough. I am planning to, one day, make a site for selling my paintings, photos, etc. It's kind of scary and daunting, but I think I could make it work (even if it never turns out to be all that lucrative).
